I am a selftaught design artist and sculptor, utilizing a variety of mediums including clay, metal, and traditional illustration. Dreamimagery and the study of anatomy, entomology, mathematics, and occult sciences are key sources of influence and inspiration for my artwork. I also employ many of the artistic methods and tradeskills learned from my father Dan Kihl, also a prolific woodworker, metal sculptor, and design artist. My artwork is often reflective of the dark and surreal nature of the subconscious psyche. I consider this art an attempt at interpreting and recreating vivid images, emotional expressions, and alternate realities which are only experienced in the depths of the mind. Kihl Studios was founded in August of 2000 as a private art studio. I design and sculpt fulltime, and also contribute to various film and entertainment projects as a Sculptor, PropBuilder, Art Director, and Production Designer.
